Planning to add a second or third story to your Caribbean home? Capacity is established by investigation and calculation, not assumed from a look.

Eng. Jackie John reads everything you send and sets out what it shows, what it doesn't, and what should happen next.
You get clear, practical engineering advice in plain language, with specific recommendations for your project.
Straight answers, no engineering jargon.
This is real, professional engineering advice from a Registered Engineer (Civil) in Trinidad & Tobago. Eng. Jackie John personally reviews every submission and responds based on your specific site, photos, drawings, and circumstances, not a generic checklist. Where a formal signed report is required, for example for a planning application, that is quoted as a full assessment.
Some work is done remotely. You share photos, videos, drawings, or a short description of your problem, and Eng. Jackie John reviews everything and responds in writing. A site visit is included where the assessment needs one, for properties in Trinidad & Tobago, and the quote says which applies before any work starts. Many issues can be assessed accurately from the right photographs.
BuildSafe Caribbean works on buildings in Trinidad and Tobago. Eng. Jackie John is registered with the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago (BOETT 04-744, Civil), and that registration covers practice here. If your building is somewhere else in the Caribbean, you can still send a note through the form. We'll tell you plainly whether we can help, and whether the work needs an engineer registered where the building is.
Use the contact form on this page — describe your problem and include as much detail as you can. After you submit, Eng. Jackie John will reply by email with a secure link to upload your photos, videos, drawings, or site plans. WhatsApp is also available for quick questions and file sharing at +1 868 775 0330. The more context you provide, the more precise the advice.
Turnaround is agreed in the quote, before any work starts. Remote assessments are normally three working days from receiving your photographs. Assessments needing a site visit are scoped individually. You will always receive confirmation when your submission is received, and a follow-up if anything is unclear before work begins.
A remote assessment is a professional written opinion from a registered engineer. It is advisory and states its own limits: what was reviewed, what was not, and what a photograph cannot support. If you need a signed engineering report for a planning application, building permit, or legal matter, say so and it will be quoted as a full assessment. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
